Science Warehouse was established in 2000, as a spinout from the University of Leeds. Science Warehouse has developed a software-as-a-service (SaaS), cloud-based procurement, catalogue and spend analysis platform which can be tailored to each customer's industry needs. The platform gives users full control of the purchasing cycle from requisition through to payment, which helps to deliver cost savings and drive spend management. Science Warehouse enables the customer to obtain the best price from the range of suppliers on its platform and helps to reduce the number of employees required in the procurement process. The directors believe that a typical payback period on the implementation of Science Warehouse is approximately six months.
The use of an e-catalogue procurement system benefits customers by comparing products and prices to support purchasing decisions, with each user being assigned a pre-approved spend limit and an approval process. The Science Warehouse platform can integrate with a significant number of common customer finance and ERP systems, including Oracle, SAP, Agresso and ABS.
Science Warehouse’s growth strategy is mainly organic. The company believes there is significant opportunity for it to grow in its core sectors and to penetrate into new sectors and territories such as core public sector, construction, food and drink and utilities. In addition, Science Warehouse intends to build on its existing channel partner relationships.
