Eyoto has developed a range of proprietary hardware and software products in ocular care. It helps opticians make more accurate and consistent diagnoses of eye conditions, ensuring that high professional standards are met and that medical and legal protection is strengthened.
The Birmingham-based company is a spinout from the UK’s top ranked School of Optometry at Aston University, one of Mercia’s university partners. Eyoto is already revenue generating and aims to disrupt the optometry industry by combining high quality portable and digital eye tests with artificial intelligence driven software platforms. As with Mercia’s other direct investments, Eyoto has been supported within Mercia’s managed funds portfolio through seed and its early stages of development before becoming a new direct investment Emerging Star in November 2017.
For clinical trials, Eyoto’s software enables eye tests to be conducted more efficiently, with faster collation and analysis of results. The software uses mathematical techniques never previously deployed in the field of optometry, and it already has the potential to become the leading technology in the optometry sector.
Eyoto, previously known as Aston EyeTech, rebranded in May 2018.
